Through engaging weekly lessons, our experienced language professionals will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a proficient bilingual advocate.

Benefits

Programme
Over the 10 lessons the tutors will provide the necessary information to build a coursework portfolio and the skills to take through to a career in bilingual advocacy. Lessons will include group work, role play practice and guest speakers from public services relevant to the learning criteria. The course will aim to provide students with knowledge of:
- The role and principles of bilingual advocacy and the national advocacy charter
- Advocacy research skills
- Knowledge of public services (including health and social care)
- Building a bilingual glossary
- Assessments and reviews
- Follow-up support
- Signposting and referrals to other agencies
- Language support
- Pathways into employment and further training
There is no formal examination but over the 10 lessons students will carry out a research project, build a bilingual glossary and gain practice experience through role play. Final grades depend on the submission of assignments, attendance, participation and practical application of skills learnt.
